Calling all new generation farmers! The Kaap Agri Academy is now accepting applications for 2022.
Situated in Porterville, the Academy provides AgriSETA accredited programmes with a focus on contributing to empowerment and the transformation of South African agriculture.
The Academy offers the following National Certificate programmes:
- NQF 2 Learnership Programme in Mixed Farming Systems
- NQF 3 Learnership Programme in Animal Production
- NQF 3 Learnership Programme in Plant Production
- NQF 4 Learnership Programme in Animal Production
- NQF 4 Learnership Programme in Plant Production
Our farmer development programme is designed to provide new generation farmers with the theoretical, practical and managerial knowledge to enable them to eventually become successful commercial farmers.
Training format:
The training format takes on a blended learning approach, incorporating virtual learning and instruction-led training methods. The blended approach is a combination of online learning, video-based facilitation and practical experiential learning weeks.
Learnership programmes will commence in March 2022 and end in October 2022.
All learning material is in English but the classes are conducted in both English and Afrikaans to accommodate all participants.
What you’ll learn:
- Knowledge of the greater economic structure that agriculture operates within.
- Skills for healthy business management.
- Basics of farm management.
- Skills in farming practise.
Course criteria:
The criteria for interested farmers and Grade 12 graduates is the following:
- Applicants must reside in the Western and / or Northern Cape Province.
- Applicants must have access to a computer and uninterrupted internet coverage (and provide proof thereof).
- Applicants must be involved in a farming operation.
- Applicants must be able to attend all the modules of the program he/she wants to do.
- Applicants must complete the assignments of the different modules online.
- Applicants must be available to attend all practical experiential learning contact sessions at the KA Academy in Porterville.

Funding your studies:
All training cost, transport, food and accommodation is subsidized by KA Academy as and when applicable. However, no stipends will be paid to successful applicants.
